is why did an ambassador have little or no real security in a place like libya on september 11th. >> that's a great question. who was in charge of security at the time when we knew that there were a number of attacks, a number of threats leading up to this incident. we knew they had drones in the sky watching ago live video feed as this battle unfolded for 7 to 8 hours. ty woods, of course you remember he was killed tragically in this attack, a navy seal who was killed, said when the bodies arrived back in the united states, hillary clinton looked right into his eyes and still was blaming it on that video. listen. >> well it, came out on the 12th, i'm sorry, on the 14th. this was about the same time that i met hillary clinton when the bodies came in to andrews air force base. and i think i mentioned this to you before. hillary clinton came up to me and i gave her a handshake and a hug. and when i shook her hand she said to me: we are going to have the film maker arrested. >> do you i think this may be te single most shocking thing in the benghazi story. secretary of state doesn't get to

of gadhafi, obama sent millions of dollars worth of weapons to al qaeda-related terrorist groups in libya. they used those american-provided weapons to get rid of gadhafi. and then the bloodshed didn't discontinue, but it culminated in the attack upon the consulate in benghazi which resulted in the death of american heroes. so the failure of obama's policy was that the weapons and the material aid that was given to al qaeda resulted in the death of these four american heroes. >> let me play for you, and i mention november 28th of 2012. this is a similar statement made by jay carney may 8th, 2013 saying that the white house's only involvement with the talking points and the state department's only involvement in the talking points was just changing in the name consulate. let me play this for you in light of the rhodes memo and what it means for you. >> cia drafted these talking points and redrafted these talking points. the fact that there are inputs is always the case in a process like this. but the only edits made by anyone here at the white house were stylistic and nonsubstantive. they
that they pushed this and they had rice say it and when we had gregory hicks, who was number two in libya say in testimony that his jaw dropped when he heard this, that was the first electric moment. this is the second electric moment. >> not only gregory hicks, but the former director of the cia says when he understood susan rice, they had nothing to do with the video. >> they're making a major distinction between the set of talking points which the intelligence community provided and heavily edited after input from the white house and state department. but that set of talking points didn't mention the video. it wasn't ant the video and susan rice's story was all about the video in concert with all the other e-mails that we saw in the white house issued talking points. when you look at the new batch of documents, you have this reclassification or classification of documents that were previously up classified. the timeline is fascinating. june of 2013, judicial watch makes a request for these documents. august of 2013, the house subpoenas the documents. in february of 2014, somebody somewhere

killed, we had a terrorist attack in libya that was contrary to the president's triumphant narrative. it flew in the face of his strongest argument for reelection, that he has been strong on terror. there was and this fellow, the sleazy and gratuitously fellow and his colleagues spun the events, they twisted the events that happened in benghazi to fit the narrative. they could not admit it was a successful terrorist attack that took down the ambassador and his three colleagues because that flew in the face of the president's triumphant narrative and his march to reelection. so they spun it. here in my opinion, is where we faltered. we should have concentrated on two things. why did we have such a light footprints in such a volatile country to begin with? where was the security? i almost got killed in benghazi. >> we watched it on the air. >> and i know these militia. they turn on their mother in a heart bet. these are people with no character, no morals, that today their motivation is islam. tomorrow it's money, weapons, whatever it is. we should have had a much stronger footprints t

has not been truthful about its explanation of the 2012 attack in benghazi, libya. >> u.s. ambassador christopher stevens and three other americans were killed when terrorists raided the consulate. judicial watch says the the attack as a spontaneous ray- reaction to an anti-muslim film. >> the documents include talking points prepared for then u.n. ambassador susan rice who appeared on a number of talk shows. the white house denies there's any smoking gun. >> this document, as i said, was explicitly not about benghazi but about the general dynamic in the arab -- or in the muslim world at the time. i would also point out that the document itself states explicitly that ambassador rice is not on the sunday shows to talk politics. this was part of our effort to explain our views, both as a matter of policy and as a matter of what was happening on the ground, with regards to the protests that were underway around the region. > >>> critics say they tried to cover up the real reason for the attacks so it could show that the president was tough on this in the 2012 campaign. >> they show bengh

, libya that killed four americans newly released e-mails suggest it was the white house blamed the attacks in in order to deflect the president's policies. the secret white house e-mail list top goals for ambassador susan rice as she prepared for a round of five interviews just says after the attacks, saying she should "underscore these protests are rooted in an internet video and not a broader failure of policy. and that's what she said. >> in reaction to this very offensive video -- that was disseminated. >> reporter: all along, the white house insisted that information came from the intelligence community but the email is written by a top political aide. and the former cia director recently told congress the intelligence community didn't agree with what rice said. >> when she talked about the video, my reaction was, that's not something that the analysts have attributed this attack to. >> reporter: the white house insists the e-mail doesn't change the story but was only released in response to a lawsuit demanding all benghazi related e-mails. >> why was this e-mail not turne

on september 11th, 2012, in benghazi, libya. four americans murdered by a coordinated terror attack. most likely from an al qaeda affiliate. not one person has been brought to justice in the attack. not one. five days after the murders, u.n. ambassador susan rice said this to the world. the information, the best information and the best assessment we have today is that, in fact, this was not a preplanned, premeditated attack, that what happened initially was it was a spontaneous reaction to what had just transpired in cairo as a consequence of the video. >> that was not true. that was not even close to being true. and a variety of people told the white house it was not true. yet, ambassador rice said what she said. yesterday, the watchdog group judicial watch released the damning truth which it procured through the freedom of information act. a memo written by senior white house advisor ben rhodes dated september 14th says that ms. rice was prepped to, quote: underscore that these protests are rooted in an internet video and not a broader failure of policy. again, that despite cia people
